After a couple of weeks of research and revisions, I have FINALLY sent my September article to the production department.

Cripes, I don't think I ever want to hear another thing about a microgrid or de-centralized power architecture EVER AGAIN.

I feel like I should celebrate! Or perhaps randomly burst into song! :D

I'm playing hooky from work today!


Well, sort of. I took the day off.


But I'm going into the City this afternoon so I can participate in the 25th Annual National Night Out Against Crime with the NYPD's 13th Precinct.  :)

I will be "performing" my caricaturing abilities for all of the children who will be attending.  I'm quite excited!

I'm in a rather festive mood today. Well, for the moment.

The office A/C is malfunctioning, so it's rather warm in here. I can only imagine what it will be like several hours from now.

Today's agenda is fairly empty, so I decided to be all LiveJournally and make myself a couple of new icons. Hence my face up there. It's been a while since I displayed some genuine narcissism. And why not? I'm feeling pretty. ;D

At approximately 7:54 AM, EST I received a text message from a friend (who barely keeps in touch with me, mind you) asking if I was going to our high school reunion this Saturday. The answer is: Nope. I talked to like, four people when I actually was IN high school. And even fewer as the years passed. He did his damnedest to coax me into it - saying we could sit there and make fun of the people who got fat. LOL. C'mon. It was ten freakin' years ago. I'm so over it!

He's not the first of my estranged high school peeps to come out of the woodwork these past couple of days. I guess that is to be expected. But seriously - doesn't anyone text at normal business hours?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze was on last night. sci_fi and I watched it and reminisced. I remember going to the theater to see it with my Dad and three brothers. Looking back, it was ridiculously corny.  Especially the club scene with Vanilla Ice:
